During July 21st – August 5th 2017 Aberystwyth’s Cwmni Theatr Arad Goch staged a big community arts festival – A FAR OLD LINE.

The festival was about bringing communities and groups together to celebrate the culture of Ceredigion through an exciting series of performances, arts events and workshops. Everything happenned in public spaces – the promenade, the beach, the bandstand, Canolfan Arad Goch and some pubs and hotels. There were activities for children, young people, adults and the whole family – and they were all based on the amazing story of Cantre’r Gwaelod – the Sunken Hundred.

Arad Goch worked closely with the local community – schools, businesses, clubs, societies – in order to create an innovative and inclusive extravaganza. Local audiences and visitors were able to experience individual events that would also encourage them to return and experience more of what’s on offer.

There were many opportunities to take part, from volunteering with production and marketing teams, to performing. Professional training and mentorship was provided for volunteers, therefore previous experience isn’t necessary.

FAR OLD LINE FESTIVAL is a community project by Cwmni Theatr Arad Goch
